On Sunday the 31st of January the club hosted our annual Life Members and Past Presidents Luncheon. This is a very exciting day on our calendar every year as we get the chance to recognise the contributions made to the Club by Past Presidents and Life Members. Hosted again by Past Player David Clear, the luncheon was attended by special guests including our Patron, Liza Harvey, MLA for Scarborough and her partner Andrew, City of Stirling Mayor, Mark Irwin and City of Stirling Coastal Ward Councillor Karen Caddy and her husband Steve along with a healthy number of Past Presidents, Life Members, Current Committee and their partners.
Whilst not every year has new inductees for Life Membership, this year we congratulated four new SCC Life Members, Brendan Carvalho, Daniel Ducasse, Rob Murdoch and Brad Havlin for their outstanding service and contribution to the Scarborough Cricket Club.
Brendan Carvalho (presented by Life Member Anne Carvalho)
Our current president, past player and captain of a Premiership winning 4th Grade Team, Brendan works tirelessly week in week out to help the club run smoothly behind the scenes. Brendan joins his mother Anne as a Life Member of SCC and continues the significant contribution the Carvalho family have made to the Club.
Rob Murdoch (presented by Life Member John Miller)
Veterans and Masters Player and President from 2011 to 2015, Rob continues his active involvement in the Club through holding the Licence to operate and being the person responsible for all maintenance issues of the Clubrooms.
Daniel Ducasse (presented by Life Member David Bloxsome)
Long time player including an A grade premiership, Daniel then added Assistant Coach and Coach of SCC to his long resume with the Club. This association continues today with Daniel being an active member of the Playing Committee.
Brad Havlin (presented by Life Member Colin Langer)
Past player and former 2nd Grade Captain, Committee Representative and past Vice President, Brad continues his association with the Club as its current Secretary.
It was great to see these four gentlemen acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to the clubs past and ongoing success.
Post the celebrations on the 31st of January, the Club was saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Life Member Sam Gannon. Sam was an outstanding person who will be greatly missed by all that attended the Luncheon.
