Vale Peter "Mounty" Mountford (1953-2017)
It is with great sadness that Scarborough Cricket Club announces the passing of Life Member Peter Mountford on Tuesday 3rd October, 2017.
Peter has had a very long and distinguished association with the Scarborough Cricket Club. Peter started his association with the club when he played senior cricket in 1967 as a 15 year old. Peter played for many seasons and took up captaincy of the 4th Grade team for several years.
Upon retirement from playing cricket Peter still remained actively involved in the club. Peter assisted the club wherever and whenever he could, some of the roles he took on included club secretary, chairman of selectors, 1st grade scorer, registrar and coaching.
Peter was well loved around the club and the players, sharing in the success of the club including premierships (of which he scored in all but 1 of the 1st Grade Premierships) and club championships. Peter was always there for those who required assistance, he was a mentor for many but more importantly he was a great friend to those who knew him.
Peter was honoured during the 2016-17 season for his 50 years of association and service to the Scarborough Cricket Club, an astounding achievement.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Peter's family and friends, he will be sadly missed. Peter has touched the lives of many people and the club is indebted to him for the all that he has done for the club.
Rest In Peace.
